New Kitsap Health Representative
Behnaz Nelson joins Local 17 as the union representative for King County Information Technology (IT) members, Kitsap Health District and Public Health Administrative Support Supervisors at King County.
She comes to Local 17 after working as a Conflicts Attorney at Perkins Coie LLP, the Northwest’s largest law firm. There, Nelson analyzed new business and clients for conflicts of interest. She enforced the Rules of Professional Conduct and ensured the firm’s compliance with professional and ethical standards. Nelson has also worked as a legal recruiter and practiced law as a medical malpractice defense attorney. Her law degree is from the Catholic University, Columbus School of Law and her undergraduate degree is from Hofstra University.
She has volunteered with the King County Labor Council promoting union involvement in local politics. She primarily focused on: Labor Neighbor activities, "Get Out the Vote", and registering union members as absentee voters.
