Re:       Transit Chiefs and Supervisors/Implementation of Workers Compensation Task Force Recommendation and CDL Medical Standards

The Union expressed concerns about the above-referenced programs. Specifically for the Worker's Comp, the Union was concerned that its members would be held accountable for the success of the worker's compensation changes. The County assured the Union that this would not be the case. The members are always held accountable for executing their job responsibilities, which include implementing Metro’s procedures such as those outlined in the Workers Comp Task Force final recommendations . However, the County has assured the Union that there would not be any new expectations from this program on Supervisors and Chiefs regarding the costs or number of OJI claims.

Specifically for the CDL issue, the Union was concerned that members who only tangentially need a CDL for their job might lose their positions after decades of service if they develop disqualifying health conditions. The County assured the Union that each case would be addressed on a case-by-case basis with the goal of exhausting all reasonable efforts to accommodate a member who develops a disqualifying health condition.

Based on these assurances, Local 17 no longer objects to the implementation of these programs as they have been described.
