The new rates should be reflected on your checks along with the retro amount back to January 4, 2010. Please notify payroll right away of any errors and if they do not correct them please let your Steward know right away.
There were several errors in the Classification Compensation Agreement that was prepared by the City for Council ratification. The Negotiating Committee is working with the City to create an "Amendments" agreement that makes corrections to the agreement ratified by Council.
There are also a few other changes that were not errors but new agreements that we intend to incorporate in the "Amendments" revision agreement.
Because the "Amendments" agreement will have to be ratified by Council prior to being implemented some of the error rates and adjusted rates will be implemented on the July 9th check and then corrected after the "Amendments" agreement is ratified. Therefore, those of you affected will receive two retro-checks.
I will post to the website both the final Classification Compensation Agreement (reflecting the error document that was ratified by Council) and the "Amendments" agreement that corrects it as soon as the team has finalized the corrections with the employer. The two documents together will reflect our final agreements.
Here are the issues that will be corrected by the "Amendments" agreement:
1. Community Service Work Crew Leader (CSWCL) will have a July 9th top step wage of $28.46 and the Community Service Work Crew Leader Lead (CSWCLL) will have a July 9th top step wage of $29.87. These wages will be adjusted with the "Amendments" agreement by placing the top step rates of CSWCL at $30.60 and CSWCLL at $32.13. This change will be retro to January 4, 2010.
2. The top step for Parking Enforcement Officer Lead will have a July 9th top step wage of $23.72. This will be corrected with the "Amendments" agreement and retro back to January 4, 2010 at the corrected rate of $24.95, which is equal to 110% of the Parking Enforcement Officer rate.
3. The July 9th Construction Inspector Step 6 rate will be in error at $34.73. The "Amendments" agreement will correct this error by placing the Step 5 rate at $34.73 and the Step 6 rate at $36.82 (equivalent with the Step 5 rate for Senior Inspector) retro to January 4, 2010.
D. The Sewer Transmission Systems Maintenance Coordinator's steps will be corrected with the "Amendments" agreement, which places the Step 5 at $35.19 and eliminates Step 6 and Step 7. This correction will be retro to January 4, 2010.
E. The job title of Road Use Compliance Officer Supervisor will be changed to Road Use Compliance Supervisor.
F. The agreement ratified by Council neglected to add the underlined language so it will be corrected in the "Amendments" agreement. This correction will be retro to January 4, 2010:
“Certification Pay" language from the Letter of Agreement will be amended as follows:
i. An employee who is currently at top step and receiving two and a half percent (2.5%) certification pay shall receive a lump sum payment of one-thousand dollars ($1000).
ii. An employee who is currently at top step and receiving five percent (5%) certification pay shall receive a lump sum payment of one-thousand and five-hundred dollars ($1500).
iii. Employees who obtain one of the certifications being eliminated as part of this agreement shall have their 1/04/2010 step adjusted to reflect the certification as long as proof of such certification is delivered to their supervisor no later than March 31, 2010. If such employee is at the top step of the adjusted range then said employee shall receive the lump sum payment outlined in "i" and "ii" above.
G. "2. Wage Implementation:" "B." will be amended by the "Amendments" agreement as follows:
B. Pay Ranges and Steps: The top step of the current pay range for each class will be adjusted to the 70th percentile value of the market. The current number of steps in the pay range shall not change, and the percentage between steps shall be at 5% increments working from the top step backwards. continue to be at 5% increments or in accordance with the current differential whichever is greater. All steps shall be recomputed off of the 70th percentile value.
